The Inn

Unique Features

Block Island is known for its historic buildings and the Darius Inn is no exception. Located on Dodge Street in town, this spot is best known in recent years as the "Gothic II." Made up of 5 suites and 6 guest rooms in walking distance of everything. Innkeepers Christy and Becca Zendt took over in 2013 breathing new life into the business. Rooms are simply appointed with shabby chic decor. Some rooms have been designated dog friendly. The entire building may be rented to accommodate 30 people.

The innkeepers offer meal service. Breakfast is included with room rates, excluding apartments. Any guest may add breakfast to their stay for a small fee. Lunches and dinners may also be added as a service. Rooms and common areas are decorated with a display from our island's talented artists. Special rates are offered for extended stays.

One of the great things about staying at an inn is that you get a good local perspective on just about everything. Like staying with friends.

Darius Dodge, the inn's namesake, operated a drugstore in this location in the 1800's. In those days druggists made their own medicines. Later the building served as the Wayside inn before becoming the Gables II. The original Gables sits just up the street and is sill in operation.
