Your Best Family Beach Vacation Station

Before you book your family beach vacation, decide Which Type of Accommodations will best fit your party. Should you rent a house where there's privacy, room to hang out, cook or barbecue? How about a Bed and Breakfast or an Inn with shared facilities? Does your family prefer a regular Hotel? Are you Sailing your Boat?

You can gather information at

Once you've decided on the type of place you'd like: Go for the booking. Do this early, Block Island Vacation Regulars make their plans in January. If you are a first time renter inquire anytime. Privately rented houses do their bookings year round so it never hurts to inquire as early as possible.

Most of the Realtors and Marina's honor their returning customers who usually book the same week every summer. After January 15th of each year they take new bookings.

If you are staying at an Inn , Hotel or B&B call as early as possible. July & August book up quickly and most places require a 2-3 night minimum. Last minute rooms do become available for you spontaneous day trippers, check the Chamber of Commerce (located in the ferry parking lot in Old Harbor) for last minute rooms.

I Highly Recommend a Family Beach Vacation Week or Weekend Getaway during the shoulder season or the off season.

May & June or September & October it's significantly less crowded and the weather can be spectacular with room rates & dates more flexible. The fall still boasts warm waters and deserted beaches! The service is better and more personalized, hotel and restaurant workers are not burned out or too busy to shoot the breeze and fill you in on everything you want to know.

Camping is only allowed for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, there is no campground or RV park on Block Island. Sleeping is discouraged on the Beaches, they are patrolled at night.
