Block Island Historical Society

The historical society of Block Island is located in Bridgegate Square at the four corners of Old Town Road, Dodge Street, Ocean Avenue and Corn Neck Road. You may sit on the veranda in the rocking chairs and contemplate the island's Victorian past.

The building itself is a piece of history, an 1800's farmhouse with a mansard roof. The society was established in the 1940's.

Open daily during the summer, and some weekends in Spring and Fall, a small donation gets you into the museum to experience and imagine Block Island's past. Peruse the period furniture, photos, clothing, fishing gear and taped oral histories.
