Travel to Block Island: How to Get "Here" from "There"
The most obvious way to travel to Block Island is by ferry. Ferries run to BI from several points including RI, CT & NY. Driving directions and schedules are available by clicking the link below:
Other ways to get to Block Island are by private boat, jet ski or to fly. Unless you are chartering a plane from somewhere else, you may fly from Westerly, RI on a scheduled or chartered daily flight.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Get to the Northeast by Air Travel, then to the Block Island ferry
T.F. Green Airport, Providence, RI (PVD) is the closest airport and most convenient for getting to the ferry, a 40 minute taxi/limo to Point Judith, RI. You will need allow at least 2 hours from landing for collecting bags and coordinating a ride to the ferry.
Logan Airport, Boston, MA (BOS) The drive to Block Island Ferry is about 1 1/2 hours or Take train to Kingston, RI and taxi to Block Island Ferry, about 15 minutes from Kingston, RI.
Hartford Airport, CT (BDL) The drive is about 2 hours to Block Island Ferry in Point Judith, RI.
New York Airports (JFK)(LGA)(EWR) Drive about 3 1/2-4 hours to Block Island Ferry or train about 3 1/2 hours to Kingston, RI. Taxi to Block Island Ferry in Point Judith, about 15 minutes.
Take a Taxi or Shuttle from the Providence Airport to the Block Island Ferry, about $75. (To Westerly Airport, about $95).

Car Rentals through Yankee Chevrolet - a one-day rental from the Airport to the Ferry, about $50. Enterprise offers a one day Car rental from the Airport to the Ferry, about $75.
Private bus company Peter Pan’s Bonanza buses go from Providence or T. F. Green, Boston's Logan Airport or New York City.
Travel by Train
From Boston take the Amtrak Train, about an hour ride costing about $20. (fares go up on weekends)
From NYC take the Amtrak Train, about 3 hours, costing about $45. (fares go up on weekends)
The Amtrak Train passes through New London, CT. There's a high speed ferry that runs during the summer to Block Island.
The Amtrak Train passes through Westerly, RI. From Westerly, you can Fly to Block Island in 12 minutes. It costs about $48.
The Amtrak Train passes through Kingston, RI. From Kingston it's a short cab ride to the Ferry Dock in Pt. Judith, around $25.
Driving to the Ferry
From Route 95 North: Take exit 92 in Connecticut. Bear right onto North Stonington Rd., Rte 2. Look for right hand turn for Rte. 78. At the end of Rte. 78, go left onto Rte. 1N. (Look for a sign that says: "Block Island Ferry"). Travel on Rte. 1N until the Galilee, Pt. Judith exit, Rte. 108. Bear right onto Rte. 108S (Pt. Judith Rd.) and travel for approx. 3 miles until a right hand exit for the Block Island Ferry. We are located at the Galilee State Pier, across from the Department of Environmental Management.
From Route 95 South:Take exit 9 in Rhode Island, (Narragansett exit) to Rte. 4. Stay on Rte. 4 to Rte. 1. On Rte. 1 take the Narragansett, Rte. 108 exit. Stay on Rte. 108S for approx. 3 miles, then take right hand exit for Block Island Ferry. We are located at the Galilee State Pier, across from Department of Environmental Management.
Parking Information: The Parking lots in Galilee and are all individually owned and operated. They are located both across and down the street from the ferry. The charge for parking is anywhere from $5 to $20 per day depending on the season. Tips on Parking
